Yet-Ming Chiang

Yet-Ming Chiang is Kyocera Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at MIT. He holds S.B. and Sc.D. degrees from MIT, and has been a faculty member at MIT since 1984. His research and teaching focuses on advanced materials and their role in technologies for energy storage and generation, medical devices, “smart†structures, and micro/nano electronics.
In these fields he has published approximately 180 research papers and one textbook, and holds about 40 granted or pending patents. He is a founding scientist of American Superconductor, a leading manufacturer of superconductor and power electronics products, and A123Systems, which designs, develops, manufactures, and sells advanced rechargeable lithium ion batteries and battery systems.
